Fire Fighters Battle Grass Fire and the South Texas Heat

The winds and high heat Sunday not only caused a large grass fire, but also raised awareness on how much of a toll the heat can take on fire fighters.
Capt. Joel Hilliard with the Annaville Fire Department told 3 News, "the heat and humidity as high as it is right now, we just try and stay as hydrated as possible and take as frequent breaks as we can."
The brush fire burned about 3 acres and happened just after 3 on Sunday afternoon along the 59-hundred block of Leopard.
The Annaville Fire Department responded to the call and says that the wind caused the small fire to spread pretty fast.
The fire crew was able to contain the fire before it spread to any nearby houses, but did catch a telephone pole on fire.
No one was hurt.  There is no word on what may have initially started the fire.
