Fire Fighters Use Boat to Respond to Emergency calls this Holiday Weekend

Fire fighters here at home were busy this Fourth of July weekend but sometimes when an emergency happens, crews can't always use a fire truck to get to where they need to go.
That's where another valuable tool comes into play for fire fighters from Flour Bluff --a rescue boat.  It which was just used this past Friday night during a brush fire on the island.
Flour Bluff Fire Chief Dale Scott told 3 News, "due to the fact that it was an island we were not able to access through fire trucks no danger to life or property just let itself burnt out.
The Flour Bluff Fire Department uses the boat to respond to drowning calls, boating accidents, and fire calls.
When they get dispatched to any of these calls, both the Corpus Christi Fire Department and the Flour Bluff Fire Department have boats to utilize if they need them.
The Flour Bluff Fire Department is also using the boat and working with the Coast Guard to help them get some training done.
To launch the boat, it can take them less than seven minutes and the department has several locations they can do this from.
We're told the boats were used several times over the holiday weekend.
