First Responders Serving Meals, Taking Donations Thursday

Some Corpus Christi police officers and firefighter will be turning in their guns and hoses and picking up some order pads and aprons on Thursday.

It's all part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Texas.

Emergency crews will be working hard to serve you and collect donations from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Joe's Crab Shack on SPID.

"All this money goes to Special Olympics," said Captain Mike Alanis of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "None of this stays with the police department. We are doing something to give back the community."

The Law Enforcement Torch Run was established in 1985 and supports over 27,000 athletes who participate in Special Olympics Texas.
