First Responders Test their Skills During Plane Crash Drill

An emergency drill was held at the Corpus Christi International Airport Friday as local first responders had their life-saving skills tested.

Nearly two dozen agencies participated in a plane crash scenario, with students from Del Mar College playing the victims.

"It's important to prepare for it so that, when it does happen, we start thinking about what we did that in a drill," said John Hyland of the Corpus Christi Airport Police. "This worked or us, this didn't work. And this is really the hands on training for that."

The exercise is required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years.
