Flour Bluff Coach Darrell Andrus Leaving For Jourdanton

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - Flour Bluff Head Coach Darrell Andrus is leaving the Hornets' sidelines after nine years at the helm to become coach at Jourdanton High School.

Andrus says he's making the move to the smaller school because that's where he was raised, and both his and his wife's families are still there.

"I'm leaving (Flour Bluff) on good terms. This move is all about family," Andrus said earlier over the phone. Andrus also thanked Flour Bluff I.S.D. for giving him his first coaching opportunity 16 years ago, saying "it's the only district I've ever known."

The Hornets' program surged in the nine years under Andrus, as Flour Bluff went to the playoffs every season and went undefeated in district four times in that stretch. Andrus leaves the Hornets with a 86-27 record.

Andrus was in Jourdanton Tuesday finalizing the details of his deal, but said he would be back in Corpus Christi Wednesday to do on-camera interviews.

3Sports was the first to report Tuesday morning that the Jourdanton I.S.D. was hiring Andrus as the Indians' next coach.
