Former Hook Jason Castro Named As Astros' All-Star

HOUSTON (Kiii Sports) - Former Corpus Christi Hooks catcher Jason Castro was selected Saturday to be the Astros' representative at the MLB All-Star Game in New York a week from Tuesday.

Castro was picked by American League All-Star Manager Jim Leyland as an all-star reserve. It'll be the first mid-summer classic for the former first round pick, who also becomes the first AL all-star in Houston history.

Castro will be one of the backups to the Twins' Joe Mauer. The Astros' catcher trails only Mauer in homeruns (12) and doubles (23).
