Founder of Texas Jazz Festival Passes

One of the founders of the Texas Jazz Festival, the largest free concert series in the Lone Star State, has passed away. Alberto "Beto" Garcia, Jr. died early yesterday morning. Garcia was an accomplished jazz drummer. He helped to start the free music fest back in 1960. Garcia was 86-years-old. Family was with him at home when he passed. A rosary is taking place this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Cathedral Church. The mass is planned for Friday at 10 a.m. at the same location. The public is invited to attended a jazz concert Friday after the funeral at the American Legion on Kostoryz and Sacky Drive.
