Four-Year Old Child Found Wandering Street Alone

Residents in the neighborhood surrounding Clemmer Street, between Ayers and Naples, found a four-year old child wandering the street alone at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said the child simply walked out the front door of its house. When police went to that house to return the child, they found two other children alone, the oldest of them only 10 years old.

"We are erring on the side of caution," said Senior Officer Justin Wicks of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "She seems pretty competent for a 10-year old. For a 10-year old, she seems pretty mature. However, just for our peace of mind, we are going to make sure they get to an adult."

Police said the children's mother was hospitalized due to an illness and their father was at work at the time of the four-year old child's disappearance. Police have written a report that they will present to Child Protective Services. It will be up to them to investigate.
