CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - The Carroll Tigers certainly qualify as our turnaround team of the year after going from 1-9 last season to the playoffs this year. They hosted San Antonio Brandeis in Buc Stadium in a game that appeared to be a mismatch in Brandeis' favor on paper. The Tigers spotted the visitors 14 points, but rallied to trail 14-7 at the half. They eventually lost 23-7.
The Kingsville Brahmas served notice they plan a long stay in the playoffs with a 45-8 trampling of Hidalgo. The District 31-3A champions took control early and never looked back. They will take on Rockport in round two of the playoffs next week.
Ingleside could be on a collision course with the Brahmas or the Pirates after posting an equally-impressive 55-18 win over Devine. The Mustangs play Grulla HS next week.
