George West School Awarded National Blue Ribbon

It was an exciting day for George West Primary School, as they were awarded the National Blue Ribbon from the U.S. Department of Education.

A celebration was held for the students, complete with a Blue Bell Ice Cream party. Schools selected for the award must be nominated and are put through a rather lengthy application process.

"You have to have at least three years of consistent high student performance data just to be nominated to apply," Principal Pat James said. "And then you go through an application process."

This is the second time the George West Primary School has won the award. They were awarded the honor back in 2005 as well.
