Heart Gallery Event Aims to Help Kids Find Adoptive Parents

The ninth annual Heart Gallery was held Tuesday at the Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center on Agnes. It's a unique event aimed at helping some youngsters in foster care find their forever home.

As a partnership between Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Child Protective Services, students take pictures of the kids who are up for adoption, hoping that their photos will get more people to consider adopting older kids.

"Every child here has their own story, and they -- according to their bios -- they wrote their own story about what they want a family to know about them," said Rose Banda of CPS.

In South Texas, there are more than 300 children up for adoption, ranging in age from newborn to 17 years old.
