Hector P. Garcia Honored on 66th Anniversary of G.I. Forum

A Corpus Christi U.S. Army veteran received national honors on Wednesday for his role in creating the American G.I. Forum.

It was the 66th anniversary of the founding of the Forum, and U.S. Senator John Cornyn introduced a resolution honoring Dr. Hector P. Garcia for his efforts. In the resolution, Cornyn recognized Garcia's strides to recruit more than 700 fellow Hispanics in 1948 in the Corpus Christi area.

Cornyn further praised the physician's efforts to end discrimination of U.S. veterans.
