It was at 3:30 Saturday when the fire broke out at home in the 400 block of Louisiana. That's off Alameda in the Del Mar neighborhood.
Firemen had to get water from a hydrant at the end of the block but once the water was flowing the fight was on to save the home.
But it was a losing battle because the commander on the scene said that fighting a home fire like this one is tough since the home was built in the 30's or 40's and was made of wood. Investigators say the fire began on the exterior of the home and are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire.
