CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The Corpus Christi Hooks are getting a new toy for the 2014 season: a 980-square foot HD big screen.
The new TV and scoreboard was being put up Saturday afternoon and replaces the old one that had been in place at Whataburger Field since the park opened in 2005. The screen is part of a technological overhaul for the Hooks, with the team also getting new HD cameras and a new replay editing system.
The screen won't be ready for the start of high school baseball Monday between Carroll and Victoria East, but it could be up and running by the Kleberg Bank College Classic later this week so still pictures only.
The full replay system will be put to use when the Hooks kick off their home schedule on April 10th against the Tulsa Drillers.
