Hurricane Ingrid Creates Stronger Rip Currents Along Local Beaches

Experts are warning beach goers here in the Coastal Bend to use caution. Hurricane Ingrid has created a rip current risk along our area beaches.

We spotted some intense wave action near Bob Hall Pier on Saturday. Its where we found families that weren't venturing too far out into the rough water.

We spoke with one surfer who says he already felt a difference in the current.

Experienced swimmer Shannon Brugh said, "its probably a good thing the tourist season is dying down because the beaches aren't as crowded. It could be potentially dangerous for people out there."

The National Weather Service has extended the rip current risk through Tuesday.
