Before people head out to the beach this weekend, Kiii News visited Padre Island beaches to survey the condition of the beach.

Some people were trying to get an early start to their weekend but were stopped dead in their tracks this afternoon. There was a large amount of sand at the entrance to JP Luby Park causing a traffic jam.

It was only a matter of time before we found car after car getting stuck even before passing the entrance to the beach. The high sand caused problems for many drivers trying to get out to the beach but ended up getting stuck instead.

With twenty minutes of our being there we saw at least five vehicles stuck with their occupants trying to dig themselves out of the sand. It caused a road block.

For the most part drivers gave each other a push to get unstuck, anything to avoid the dreaded and expensive tow truck drivers.

Eventually crews came out to wet down and push the dirt out of the way to make the road passable for drivers.
