Incarnate Word Academy Hosts Mobile Blood Drive

During this time of year, the blood supply takes a dip; but many students of Incarnate Word Academy have decided to give the gift of life.

IWA students and staff rolled up their sleeves and donated blood at a mobile blood drive on their campus Thursday.

"I always wanted to do it, and I finally weigh enough, so knowing that I am saving somebody's life is great," first-time donor Lauren Saenz said.

"I mean, it feels good just because you don't know who it's given to but somebody who needs it," said Gabi Rendon, who donated for her third time.

Phlebotomists said that each blood donation can benefit accident victims, and folks who undergo surgery or cancer treatments.

By the way, January is National Blood Donor Month.
