Ingleside Man Sentenced to 75 Years for Fatally Stabbing Girlfriend

An Ingleside man found guilty of murder in the San Patricio County Courthouse was sentenced Friday to 75 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Remus Litoiu, 31, was charged with fatally stabbing his 35-year old girlfriend, Maria Gonzales Deleon, in October of 2012. He was found guilty in court on Thursday, and the sentencing phase of trial took place on Friday.

It was Oct. 24, 2012, when Deleon was found dead on the sidewalk outside of her Ingleside apartment in the 2100 block of Breezeway Circle. When investigators arrived at the apartment, Litoiu opened the door and was covered in blood. There were also bloodstains leading from the body to the apartment.

The couple had been dating for two years and living in Ingleside for one year. They planned to get married.
