Investigators Find Signs of Possible Break-In Prior to Warehouse Fire

Investigators returned to the Jet Specialty warehouse on Leopard Street Wednesday, where they are now investigating a fire that broke out there Sunday night as a case of arson.

Along with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, the Corpus Christi Police Department's crime scene investigators were on the scene Wednesday morning investigating what, according to CCFD Captain James Brown, appears to be signs of a possible break in that may have occurred prior to the fire.

As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities began considering the case an arson investigation.

Brown said they will be back on the scene Friday, along with insurance investigators, to remove and go through some of the debris from the fire. They also hope to acquire some video footage to look at as part of the investigation.

As for the warehouse itself, the front area of the building is still structurally unsound because of the fire. The rear section, where the inventory is stored, is safe, allowing for the company to continue some of its operations.

Captain Brown is asking that anybody who may have been in the area prior to the fire to notify the CCFD if they saw anything. You can reach them at 361-826-3932.
