After an Islanders' fielding error and a walk loaded the bases, the Islanders pulled out of the jam as Islanders' hurler Liz Carter picked up her third strikeout of the game.

The Ladyjacks held the 1-0 lead until the Islanders rallied back in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs on two hits, while capitalizing on two errors by SFA. Dani Tefft started the rally after she reached on a fielding error by Cadie Weaver at second. The sophomore then picked up her eighth stolen base of the season, before Jessica Mendez advanced Tefft to third on sacrifice bunt. With one out, Hayley Galloway hit a fly out to second before Brittney Morse stepped up to the plate. The freshman sent a RBI single to center field to score Tefft and even the game at 1-1. With Morse on second and Perez at first, Carter drilled a RBI single to center field to plate Morse and put the Islanders in front 2-1. J.J. Jackson fouled out to third to end the inning.

The Islanders retired the Ladyjacks in order in the seventh to secure their fourth Southland win of the season.

Mendez, Galloway, Morse, Carter and Mickayla Cochran each picked up a hit in the victory while Carter (8-15) posted her eighth victory in the Islanders' circle. The freshman held the Ladyjacks to just four hits and one run, while walking four and striking out six in seven innings.

The Ladyjacks then answered with their first run of the game with two outs after Taylor LeFlore hit a RBI single to right field to plate Campbell. The Islanders pulled out of the inning with a 1-3 putout.

The Islanders and Ladyjacks stayed locked at 1-1 until the Islanders surged ahead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth on two hits.
