Jim Wells Deputies Arrest Suspected Oil Field Equipment Thief

Jim Wells Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man Monday night who they say stole $4,000 worth of oil field equipment and tools.

That man, 25-year old David Alvarado, Jr. now faces charges of burglary of a building.

Investigators said Alvarado stole tools such as an impact wrench, torches, gauges for oxygen tanks and saws. The burglary was caught on surveillance video at the company 211 Services, located a couple of miles north of Alice.

"With the impact that Alice has in the oil field industry, you'll see a lot more oil field tools that are being taken from, you know, your big impact wrenches that were taken from this business, to pipes, everything that you can use in the oil field, because its value, it's really high," said Lt. Felix Saenz, Jr. of the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office said the stolen property has been returned to the business it was stolen from.
