Judge Adams Back In Court

In Aransas County, the judge who made national headlines after being seen in a youtube.com video, beating his then 16 year old daughter with a belt is back in court.  Monday Judge William Adams was himself before a judge, fighting to keep joint custody with his other daughter, a 10 year old.

This after his ex-wife filed a restraining order against him, essentially keeping him from having contact with his younger child.  After that video was posted on youtube.com a few weeks ago by Hillary Adams, 23, her father, Judge William Adams, had to at least temporarily step away from his job in Rockport, and let a visiting judge take over his case load.

Now, he's back at court, in the same court he once presided over this time fighting for custody of his other daughter.  Monday, his ex-wife Hallie, and Hillary both appeared in court, for the first time since the whole frenzy began.

"I think I probably shouldn't comment, happy to talk to you afterwards, shouldn't say anything right now...really wish I should say something, but I have to go,  said Hillary Adams outside the courtroom.

Hillary Adams couldn't say much, as she arrived for court with her mother Hallie Adams.  Hillary is the oldest daughter of Judge Adams, and the one who posted that video on youtube.com from 7 years earlier, showing her father beating her.  Judge Adams arrived at court Monday very differently than Hillary and Hallie.  He didn't go through the front doors like they did, he entered court from the back of the courthouse, through a special door.  Cameras were not allowed inside the courthouse.

Monday's district Court hearing was on the temporary restraining order that was filed against Judge Adams on November 10 by his ex-wife Hallie.  When that TRO was granted, Judge Adams was no longer allowed to see his daughter.  So four days later, he filed a motion countering that restraining order and Monday's hearing was set to determine if he would be denied access to his youngest child.  There were 15 witnessed called to court.  Tuesday the hearing will continue, with more witnesses to testify.
