Judge says Future is Now at State of the County Address

Nueces County Judge Loyd Neal said the county is experiencing the booming economy we have wanted -- and it's not Nueces County alone, but all of South Texas.

"70-percent of that growth is happening in San Patricio County," Neal said. "that's why it's so important that we look at what we do here as a region, because we have to have a regional approach to growth."

Neal addressed a huge crowd at the Solomon P. Ortiz Center for the State of the County Address, put on by the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The judge thanked Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for, as he put it, putting our region on the map.

He also said that Eagle Ford Shale is playing a huge factor in the county's growth, and said the county now needs to look at how to sustain that growth, including making sure we have the right infrastructure, available housing and even affordable and sustainable water sources.
