Kingsville Police Arrest Apartment Employee for Burglary

A tenant of the Apple Creek Apartments in Kingsville called the police Monday afternoon, after catching an apartment complex employee stealing on camera.

When she found that some items were missing from her apartment, with no obvious signs of a break in, the tenant decided to install a camera in her apartment. It was Monday afternoon when she returned home and checked the camera, and saw that an apartment employee was stealing clothing from her closet.

The employee, LeeAnn Gandy, was contacted and at first denied the accusation, and then later said that she was retrieving her own property from the apartment. She returned the property to the Kingsville Police Department after her arrest.

Gandy has been charged with burglary of a habitation, which is a second-degree felony that is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. She remains in Kleberg County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Police are continuing to investigate to see if there are others in the apartment complex who have had items stolen.
