Kitten Rescued from Tall Tree by Worker with a Bucket Lift

Kittens can be precocious and full of energy, and sometimes they can get themselves in way over their head. That's exactly what happened Monday as one kitten found himself up in a very tall tree.

"It was really scared, and when my husband went to go get it, to rescue it, it ran up the tree branch," Melissa Zapata said. "It has not come down since."

Zapata said she and her husband saw the kitten in the middle of the street at around 8 a.m. in the 4600 block of Coventry. They thought it was dead, but when they went to check on it, it made a mad dash to a tree. They called the Corpus Christi Fire Department and Animal Control, but they couldn't do anything.

"I would love for someone to come help us get this kitten out, so that we can feed him, feed her, nurse her," Zapata said. "Get her the help that she needs."

There is a happy ending to the story. At around 5 p.m., a worker driving a truck with a bucket lift showed up to the scene to grab the kitten, and it is now safe and sound.
