Kleberg County Votes to Hire Attorney in Slander Lawsuit

Kleberg County Commissioners plan to hire an attorney to defend Clerk Leo Alarcon. He is being sued by fellow co-worker and county IT Director, Joe Rodriguez. Rodriguez alleges Alarcon slandered his name during a story that aired here on three news regarding internet issues. Yesterday, commissioners voted two to one to hire Attorney Tony Canales. County Judge Juan Escobar voted against the move claiming Canales' law firm is currently in a legal battle with Kleberg County regarding another matter.
