Lawyer Requests New Trial for Woman Sentenced for Murder

In May, she was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years for the murder of her boyfriend; but on Wednesday, Donna Taylor's lawyers asked for a new trial.

The 55-year old woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. She fatally shot 54-year old Floyd Scroggin in January of 2012, and was later captured by the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force.

117th District Court Judge Sandra Watts took Wednesday's motion under advisement but made no decision.

Taylor will have to serve at least half of her sentence before she is eligible for parole.
