"Lights of Hope" Paves Way for Cattle Baron's Ball

The Cattle Baron's Ball benefiting cancer research in South Texas is Saturday, March 23.

To kick things off, the inaugural "Lights of Hope" was hosted Tuesday evening.

The event was held at Heritage Park.

Messages on brown bags with lit candles inside showed support for those affected by the disease.

"Lights of Hope" was open to the public.

Organizers say they want to encourage dialogue and education when it comes to cancer.

"It's important to support because we want to educate the community that we have local services that can help families in need," Laurie Ramirez, Cattle Baron's Co-chair said.

If you want to help fund cancer research in our area the Cattle Baron's Ball is Saturday, March 23 at the Richard M.. Borchard Fairgrounds.
