Local Finalists in HEB's Excellence in Education Awards

A couple of area educators were surprised Wednesday as they were officially informed that they are finalists for HEB's Excellence in Education awards.

William McIntire, career and technology teacher at Ray High School, received a $1,000 check for his lifetime achievement nomination as part of the HEB Excellence in Education awards.

McIntire wasn't the only local educator honored Wednesday. Sarah Jump, a teacher at Dawson Elementary, was informed of her nomination in the leadership elementary category.

Both Jump and McIntire will compete for state recognition at an awards ceremony in May.
