Firefighters risk their lives every day running into burning homes or putting out explosive car fires. Tuesday, a Corpus Christi Firefighter was recognized for putting himself in a different kind of danger. Firefighter and Paramedic Jon Dodge was honored for his heroism --off duty-- after rushing to stop a carjacking.
"I heard somebody yelling for help. I thought there was a child involved. I wasn't going to let the car take off if there was, just one thing lead to another," said Dodge."There was other people involved too. I was just the one that stopped the car and got in and pulled the person out."
Dodge received a commendation award from the Corpus Christi Fire Department for his efforts. Back on September 30t, he was at an area convenience store when he witnessed the crime. Dodge even held the alleged carjacker until police arrived.
