Local Scouts Give Camping Safety Guidelines

Sarah Acosta was live for 3News First Edition with local scout troop 162 learning camp safety before hitting the outdoors.

Eagle Scout, John Franey says to remember the basics like staying hydrated, use the buddy system, always have first aid available and keep your socks dry to avoid blisters.

When backpacking scouts say to pack no more than 55 pounds in your backpack and keep it to the essentials: sleeping bag, minimal clothing, dry food, small tent and extra water.
