Local Talent Tries Out For Houston Astros

Current and former high school players from all across South Texas tried to fulfill the dream of becoming a professional ballplayer today by working out for the Houston Astros.

The Astros hosted an open tryout today at Whataburger Field with over 300 people hitting the diamond. Many of the participants were in their mid-20's and had previously played high school and college ball. The Astros scouts said no players were signed today, but they have several on the radar that could be signed to minor league deals within the next few days.
