Local Turkish Community Helps Quake Victims

The death toll in turkey has risen to 461 after Sunday's devastating earthquake.  The digging out continues in Eastern Turkey, near the Iranian border.  The worst earthquake to strike Turkey in over a decade has injured at least 1,600 people.  Officials fear that 1,000 people may have been killed by the quake and thousands have been left homeless.

Meanwhile here in Corpus Christi, at the Raindrop Turkish House, earthquake relief efforts are underway, as the non-profit organization seeks help from the community to reach victims overseas.

"People need food, supplies, pretty much everything and in the short term their homes and all the medical supplies I would say is necessary," says volunteer, Bora Karayaka, with the Raindrop Turkish House

donations can be dropped off at the raindrop Turkish house on Saratoga boulevard or donate online at http://raindropturkishhouse.org/
