One woman killed in rollover accident, driver arrested

The driver involved in a fatal rollover accident overnight has been arrested for DWI and intoxication manslaughter, according to Department of Public Safety troopers. The crash claimed the life of one woman.

DRISCOLL, TEXAS (KIII NEWS) - The driver involved in a fatal rollover accident overnight has been arrested for DWI and intoxication manslaughter, according to Department of Public Safety troopers. The crash claimed the life of one woman.

It happened just after 3 a.m. on FM 665, a couple of miles east of Driscoll. Police said a pickup truck being driven by 27-year-old Javier Davila was traveling east on FM 665 when the vehicle went off the road causing it to roll over multiple times, coming to stop near County Road 75.

The vehicle had two passengers inside, including 33-year-old Amanda Rivas Salinas. Investigators said Salinas was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Another woman was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital and was last reported in stable condition.

Davila was arrested by DPS troopers for DWI and was transported to the Nueces County Jail, where he was booked on intoxication manslaughter charges.

Troopers are still investigating the accident.
