Gabe Ramirez wouldn't talk with us about why he shot his neighbor's puppy with a bow and arrow. But Jim Wells County Sheriff Oscar Lopez says Ramirez told his Investigator that he shot the puppy because it was in his backyard. It growled at him and he thought it was going to attack. The puppy is named Erin. She's a terrier mix who's about 8 months old. She was shot on Friday evening and was left for dead until someone called us about her on Sunday. We then brought the dog back to Corpus Christi to Animal Care Services. That's where Dr. Tom House performed emergency surgery to remove the arrow. Erin is expected to make a full recovery after six more weeks of care.
