The 8 member group accepted the resignation of Peter Perkins who handed in a letter accusing the organization of micro-managing and disorganization.
After meeting with Perkins in executive session, the members agreed to accept his resignation and appoint Rose Collin as interim project manager.
Perkins attempted to ask members questions during the comments period of their open meeting, but was told they would not address his questions.
Perkins tells 3 News he agreed to come out of retirement to help build economic development. "My whole approach here was, you know, what can I do for the community that i live in and for the other communities involved in the Coastal Bend region. That was the reason I took the position. Because I wasn't able to progress along and because of some of the management techniques that were employed, that's the reason that I resigned the position," said Perkins.
He says he presented several proposals and suggestions to the L.R.A. members but often got no response.
Perkins added, "one of the concerns that they voiced before is whats being done. Well whats being done is in those bi-monthly reports that they didn't care to review for the public."
In response Chairperson Stella Herrmann said, "if you remember when we first got started we were doing everything fast paced before we even hired any staff. We got through that and did loads of things and we're continuing to do things. We've had the town hall meetings, we've done what we need to do and we're continuing to. I'm sorry that Mr. Perkins feels like we're disorganized but we all do things differently."
The L.R.A. appointed his assistant, Rose Collin as interim, until a permanent project manager can be hired.
As for Perkins, he says he plans to go back to enjoying life in retirement.
