The red light camera at Cimarron and Yorktown has been busy catching drivers running through the intersection. But some 260 of those violators had their tickets torn up. That's because police who review the video evidence from red light violators found out that many of those people shouldn't have been flagged. The reason being was that cars who were making right hand turns had to pull up and out into the intersection to see whether it was clear to turn. The cars to their left had stopped past the solid white line and up into the crosswalk area. Virtually blocking the view of those cars in the right hand lane. The City will continue to throw out those who fall into this trap. They're also looking at coming up with a way to re-engineer the intersection to lesson the chance that this will continue to be a problem in the future. The bottom line is, make sure you come to a complete stop at any intersection and make sure and look for traffic before turning.

WHY would the city make people take time off work to dispute such stupidity on thier part, take OWNERSHIP and rvw the citation on this intersection instead of making your TAXPAYERS take time off work to clean up the MISTAKES the CCPD is making.

Nice try by the City to explain away defective sensor alignment by their contractor. I drive through that intersection several times daily. I've seen it flash multiple times when no cars are moving in the intersection! I've also seen it flash after a car has stopped behind the stop line on red and then pulled forward to make the legal right-on-red after stop turn. No need to spend more taxes to reengineer, or waste more CCPD time reviewing, just make the contractor fix their system!
