(Corpus Christi, May 14, 2008) Ark Exlecutive Director Delma Trejo says growing their own fruit and vegetables is what the children of the west texas compound want. Trejo says the children are still adjusting to their new home, for instance the boys had to learn its okay to sit next to the girls and eat.

Ark officials say the older children hold prayer services for the little ones each day. While the boys can wear jeans, the girls are still wearing their homemade long dresses and long-sleeve shirts.

Ark officials are thankful to the coastal bend community, for their support. They tell 3 News, they don't know how long the children will be there. But if anyone would like to help, Ark officials say gift cards to HEB or Wal-mart are needed to keep them stocked with daily supplies.

Many of the children have become attached to workers.

It is very great that the children of the W. Texas compound are assisted by our community. This is when the community can show our careing we are. I beleive the people at the Ark can help the children adjust to the differeneces from the environment that they were acustom to. I can only urge others to keep helping. We should thank the media for bringing the awareness of what needs to be done to help the children.
