CCISD names new administrator for W.B. Ray High School

Corpus Christi ISD Superintendent Scott Elliff has announced that Cecilia Reynolds-Perez has been appointed principal at W.B. Ray High School, effective with the 2008-2009 school year.

Ms. Perez has most recently served as principal of South Park Middle School, where the school achieved Texas Education Agency "recognized" status for the first time under her leadership. She was principal of Evans Special Emphasis School from 2001-2006, where she led the school to "recognized" status after being at the bottom of the ranking of CCISD elementary schools on TAKS performance. Both South Park and Evans also achieved TEA "Gold Performance" status under her leadership.

Before becoming a principal, Ms. Perez was an assistant principal at Grant Middle School and a teacher at South Park Middle School, Galvan Elementary School, and Los Encinos Special Emphasis School. She has been with the District for 20 years.

A native of Kingsville, Ms. Perez is married and has three children.

"Ms. Perez has an outstanding reputation as a principal who can inspire students and staff alike to achieve excellence. I have complete confidence in her ability to provide strong leadership to the instructional improvement initiatives already underway at Ray," Elliff said. Her appointment followed an interview process with a panel of District staff, as well as Ray High School teachers and parents.

Ms. Perez replaces Steven Gonzalez, who requested a reassignment in November 2007. Dr. Richard Peltz has served as interim principal since that time.
