National Get Outdoors Day
June 14, 2008
100 sites over all the US will be getting people outdoors to enjoy life.
This will be the only site in Texas this year. Come join us for a great Adventure Outdoors

Where: Hazel Bazemore Park
Northwest Blvd & Co Rd 69 (1 mile from 5 points in Calallen)
Corpus Christi, Tx.

When: Saturday, June 14, 2008

Who: Camp Fire USA of the Coastal Bend will be hosting the event with the help of several supporting organizations to have everyone realize that getting outdoors is a must for everyone’s health.

The event will feature:
Welcome at 9:30 by special guest, Camp Fire USA will have information about places in Texas to Camp, Native American Indians will perform the drumming to Mother Earth at 10 & 1 Coastal Bend Bays Foundation, Welcome Home Barn with their animals, County Parks & Rec , US Army, Corpus Christi Fire Dept., Corpus Christi Blood Bank will be there from 11- 3, Texas Excursions with a Wind Surfing Simulator, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, The Asthma Lady, Girls Scouts

There will be door prizes of outdoor activities every hour, games to play, fishing, food and areas to picnic and enjoy the outdoors.

Report Studies: Recent medical reports predicting a 2-5 year life expectancy decline for America’s youth due to screen watching, that is texting, computers, etc. These reports have helped prompt coordinated action by government agencies, non-profits and recreation companies to get kids active outdoors.
