Police say a 31 year old man was shot to death after a fight between two women reportedly escalated in a brawl involving more than a dozen people.  Neighbors say two women, believed to be sisters got into a fight over a man. After they fought, witnesses say several others joined in. That's when somebody drove by and fired shots into the crowd killing one man.

Residents here are in shock after a 31 year old man was shot to death in their neighborhood this afternoon. Police say Jose Luis Gomez died from a gunshot wound to the chest, while a 14 year old was shot in the leg.

One neighbor, Matthew Neely, said, "It's senseless. There's no reason for it."

Neighbors say it started with a fist fight between two women in what is believed to be a dispute over a boyfriend. Then.It erupted into a big melee involving about 20 people.

One witness who did want to be identified said, "It was a dispute between family members. A gun was brought out. You heard shots and nobody ducked."

This happened in the late afternoon while small kids and their parents were out playing. David Villarreal told Kiii News, "Estamos en patio. I was in patio. My wife and I heard at least five gun shots. So we grabbed out two young kids and ran inside because we were scared."

Also in the area.A health clinic filled with patients and workers.

Orlando Gomez with the Amistad Health Clinic said, "There was certainly a lot of fear going on with our patients at the Amistad Community Health Center, but we instituted our security policy immediately."

Police say the shooter left in a low rider l-t-d car.

No one has been arrested but these residents say violence is problem in this neighborhood.

Anne Marie Neely who lives in the area had a wish. "I would like the community to have more police protection because we do have a lot of things that are going on."

A simple request from neighbors who want this violence to come to an end.
