Quite a scare for those living and doing business around the Cimarron area near some nursing and rehabilitation centers on the city's south side. A a gas line ruptured.

It happened a little after noon when  crews working on a gas line accidentally split a 10-inch main.

The leak was between two assisted living homes, and a few neighborhoods. Residents of the nursing homes were asked to shelter in place. And three single family homes were evacuated for a short time.

According to city officials, the leak has been stabilized with a temporary repair. The permanent repair will take several hours to complete.

Homes and business in the area may experience low gas pressure until the permanent repair is made.
