Community Activist Roland Garza told Council some residents were wondering if race had anything to do on why their streets weren't be repaired. The Lindale and Mannsheim neighborhoods were mentioned in that discussion. Both of those neighborhoods are having half of their streets completely repaired. Assistant City Manager Angel Escobar tells 3 News that they were both phase 1 Bond 2004 projects. But now, Council has shifted gears and is repaving major streets in the Bond 2008. That means that the phase 2 projects in those neighborhoods may be delayed and that's why the other half of the streets in those neighborhoods may not be repaired until the next bond in 2012.

Good point. All the race mongers these days have to stretch to find any inkling of racism. I guess that good news for society overall and bad news for people who still grope for the race card to justify their own failings.

Why would folks wonder if race was involved as far a streetwork when the majority of councilmen and Angel Escobar are of Hispanic origin ? A vast majority of street repair personal are Hispanic , so this line of reasoning for me is questionable ? Maybe I got it wrong, were the white folks wondering why thier streets werent repaired ?
