There was a lot to mind especially if you're sense of smell is sensitive. No matter, there were quite a number of "true-die-hard" beachgoers who thumbed their noses at the smell just to take in the sand and surf.
The day after Dolly and surprisingly there were lots of folks checking out the aftermath.
Katy, a surfer from Portland says "I don't know I haven't surfed like waves from a hurricane before so I don't know how this is gonna go, but it looks good you don't see waves like that out here normally."
While surfers checked out the high waves other visitors couldn't help but notice the other obvious aftermath. Dafny Denisten said, "yah we're kind of lucky in California we don't have all the seaweed on the beaches."
Other visitors, like Lisa and Luke Malone on vacation from Round Rock, looked at the positive side. Luke said, "yah but there's lots of shells. Lots of shells we're making the most of it."
It could have been worse they said. Lisa Malone, adding, "six nights, we had 3 days of beautiful weather and 3 days in doors. We'll be leaving in the morning so but it's alright we had a great time."
Kirsten Hoefel of Corpus Christi said, "the seaweed doesn't bother me. Its a natural occurrence. I don't think we should bothering ourselves with trying to eradicate and push it up on the dunes I think it shortens the length of the beach I think its a natural occurrence and its mother nature."
20 minutes later and we check back with our surfer to see how cooperative mother nature was with her. Katy the surfur said, " it's really bad out there. Like I figured most of it would be washed up but it kept getting caught on my board and leash and everything." Surf's up...Way up!
