       But new home construction that's been the trouble spot  The number crunchers ate city hall are even surprised to see the numbers that low.

   Down by more than half from last year.

   The trend from January of last year to January of this year.

   You can track the economy showing it's slow down from the start of 08. As the year progressed the folks at city hall were handing out fewer permits.

   The latest numbers from July show less than half, 52 permits were issued compared to 109 issued July a year ago.
