(Corpus Christi, 9/17/08) Last year alone, the Nueces County Children's Advocacy Center conducted more than 17-hundred forensic interviews from coastal bend children.

Each year the number of cases continues to climb, but the funding continues to decrease.

The center's program director says something has to give and it could likely be at child's expense.

The Children's Advocacy Centers mission, to lessen the trauma, abused children and their families are already feeling. \

Staff work closely with public agencies, like Child Protective Services and law enforcement investigators, and conduct one forensic interview. That's video taped, so the child does not have to relive the traumatic event, over and over again.

But now more than one-third of the centers annual budget is gone, after a victims of crime act grant was not renewed.

The center is located at: 502 McClendon Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78404
