It was an outpouring of emotion Thursday as friends and family remembered a Corpus Christi teenager killed this past weekend in a double-fatal traffic accident.
Two teens died in Sunday's crash on the 3900 block of Lamont. Police are still working on the final accident report that will explain what happened. But, there are those now who are asking why did this have to happen?
"I will miss him everyday," said Mary Madrid. Killed in the accident, Ivan was her youngest son of six children. 18 year old Ivan Madrid was the driver of the car that plowed into the back of a parked dump truck on Lamont. Ivan's front seat passenger, 17 year old Christopher Regino also died. In the backseat, another young man, Tony Vela is still hospitalized.
"As a mother you never want to say goodbye to your son. The parent is not suppose to bury their child," said Madrid.
But, it's become her reality. Several years ago, another son, 26 year old Eric, Ivan's well liked brother, the one Ivan was especially close to, died in a shooting following an altercation at the now closed Nightclub, Club 54.
"My consolation is that I've got a guardian angel on each side until I meet with them again."
As hundreds gathered Thursday afternoon at Ivan's visitation at the Trevino Funeral Home in Corpus Christi she takes time with us to recall blessings, and thanks those friends she calls earth angels who've offered a lot of support during this dark time.
Friday at 10 in the morning a funeral mass is scheduled at Christ the King Catholic Church just off of Arlington Street.
As for 17 year old Christopher Regino, visitation is tomorrow from 9 until 9 at night and at 5PM a memorial service will take place at the Corpus Christi Funeral Home.

My heart goes out to you Ms Madrid and your family. We to lost my little brother, age 18, in a auto accident. To us it doesn't matter what happened....It should not have happened, their life is just beginning and your family's life will forever be changed. You and your family will be in our prayers for the strength to continue on until you meet him again in Heaven.
