Del Mar College welcomed back a former student, in a big way. The Board of Regents held their first meeting with Dr. Mark Escamilla as president.

Escamilla graduated from Carroll High School, Del Mar College and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He started his new job two days ago. He says it's good to be back home. "I keep saying the same thing , but it's what comes to mind; it's an honor to be here as the president of Del Mar College. Being a native of Corpus Christi, it's actually a dream come true."

Dr. Escamilla came to Del Mar College from Tyler Junior College. He wants to focus on increasing enrollment at the college, and work with faculty to restore tradition. Escamilla also says he's familiar with the recent turnover in the president's job, and is fully committed to the school.

Natural Gas

Should the city of Corpus Christi privatize its natural gas system or keep it under city ownership?

  • Yes. Sell it and let private business run it.
  • No. Keep it as a city department.
  • I don't know.
