(Corpus Christi, October 10, 2008)  Mary Leal, the mother of 30 year old Valerie Martinez  says she is trying to stay strong for her daughters children, ages 10, 9, 8 and 7.

Mary Leal said, "She worked so hard and the only thing that she did was for her children to provide for what they needed."

Leal says she doesn't know why her daughter was in the SUV with 28-year old John Trevino. A man the family says, she divorced and even filed a restraining order against.

Trevino was ejected in the accident, but survived. He now faces charges of intoxication manslaughter. Another passenger, Paul Prado suffered only minor injuries.

Leal , went to the crash site that morning, prayed and waited until her daughter's body was freed from the wreckage. She still wonders why Valerie was riding with the pair.
