It's one of those strange quirks of nature that we noticed right after hurricane Ike... All kinds of debris from elsewhere in Texas and Louisiana washing up on our beaches.
On Sept. 28th, a combination wallet and personal planner filled with personal keepsakes, phone numbers and moneyt washed ashore on the National Seashore... Local attorney Scott Nelson who was out fishing that day decided he would try to find the owner and return it... They set up a conference call with Marsha Trahan In Cameron Parish, Louisiana. Marsh says her home was destroyed by ike...being swept away by the powerful surge.
She says the wallet contained mostly sentimental things...Including the only picture she had of her 8 year old daughter gaylin at her first beauty pageant. Gaylin is now 15. Nick says finding marsha proved to be a challenge.. Most of the phone numbers in the planner were no good... But ultimately a brother in florida called back and helped make the connection. Marsha, who works as an office manager, and is a member of the local school board, says she and her family are still living in a travel trailer... That her husband's company provided for them. Her home is in the process of being re-built.
